Who is Martín Almirón?
About me
I am a worker of Argentine tango, internationally recognized for my work as an event organizer. Thanks to my work, I have managed to place Oviedo on the world tango map. I work as a DJ specialized in tango, a milonguero (dancer), and a teacher.
I have created a large tango community in Oviedo, Asturias, Spain.
My work has led to the training of resident DJs and numerous dancers who today carry the spirit of tango from Asturias to all of Spain and the rest of the world.
My first contact with tango
I started by chance, one afternoon at River Stadium, walking around the concourse (or hall). Some tango practitioners were inviting people to join the class; I went in and connected with the embraces. That was how I began, back in 1993.
Today, tango is my profession.
My training
My training in tango has been supported by AMBCTA (Association of Teachers, Dancers, and Choreographers of Argentine Tango), an institution that trains and grants official diplomas to DJs and teachers of Argentine tango, with the aim of promoting and spreading this discipline.
I have had the privilege of taking classes with some of the best tango dancers, since, as it is a non-regulated dance, my learning has been directly shaped by great masters and experts in this dance. In addition, I continue improving by attending events where I can connect with outstanding professionals and keep learning. Tango never ends.
My training also includes physical education and a solid career as a martial artist in karate, experience I developed in Argentina and Italy, teaching adults, young people, and children.
